This is a copy of the letter that the architect, E. S. Finkle, send along with the floor plans. Any typos were probably added by me (David Manthey) when I typed it in. January 24, 2000 Re: Fraternity House at 2140 Burdett Avenue Dear Jim: Enclosed is the revised plan for review. Please note the following: 1. The kitchen is revised as requested. The diagram showed a kitchen window opening onto the stair from the basement. This is not permitted by Code. I believe the existing kitchen window at the dining room end of the kitchen can remain since it will be above the basement stair roof. 2. The access to the first floor rear bedroom and the closets in that bedroom have been adjusted per your notes. 3. The wide opening between the living and TV rooms has been eliminated as implied in the nodes. 4. The fire rated enclosure at the first floor stair has been eliminated. To make this possible the corridor at the second floor must extend to the rear terminating in an exit door. Exit through bedrooms would not be permitted since it is possible the bedroom doors would be locked. 5. The front bedroom closet has been changed back to its original narrow configuration. 6. The second floor bathrooms were modified as requested. 7. The new corridor closet was added as requested. 8. The rear bedrooms at the second floor were modified to accommodate the new exit corridor. To maintain the earlier room dimensions I have cantilevered the back wall of the second floor about 2 ft. over the first floor. The committee should also note that the requested kitchen plan places the range on an inside wall. Ductwork will be required to extend the range hood to the exterior. Please advise if this plan is acceptable to the membership. Very truly yours, E.S. Finkle Architect
